Joe’s Jeans

Men’s Spotlight!

Ecco Clothes in downtown Burlington has long been known as the hotspot for designer clothing, particularly women’s denim and dresses. Over the last two decades we have continually provided women the beautiful fabrics, patterns and styles of some of fashion’s favorite brands. In more recent years, Ecco has slowly moved into the territory of men’s clothing. Burlington is full of professional men in need of durable, well-tailored clothing. We would love to take this opportunity to spotlight our men’s department and to showcase all the amazing brands we carry!

Our men’s department is fully stocked with denim, shorts, button downs, flannels, dress shirts and the casual and comfortable basics. We are always looking out for the latest trends in the men’s world to bring into our store. Not surprisingly, our best seller has always been denim and here’s why: we carry four amazing denim brands that always come through with the best and latest trends for our guys! AG (Adriano Goldschmied) is a brand based out of Los Angeles that’s been around for 15 years and is founded by “the godfather of denim.” This particular company has one of the best selections of men’s denim. We carry four styles with a variety of washes for each because we know that guys can be particular about style too.

AG

Another brand we carry that’s closely connected with AG is Citizens of Humanity. The company was founded in 2003 and is also based out of LA where they produce around 1 million pairs of jeans locally! If it’s made in the US, it’s just another reason for us to love it! Citizens of Humanity also produces a magazine twice a year showcasing people in the creative industry doing stuff that matters and that’s just cool! We have a great selection of styles and washes; from slim to straight or even a relaxed fit, we have it all!

COH

A brand founded in 2002 in, yep, you guessed it, LA, that just about everyone has heard of is Seven for all Mankind. Also known as Seven, this company launched a men’s line in 2002 and it’s been a huge hit in our stores. The more traditional denim feel to these jeans make them a big winner with the guys. For some men, jeans that are too soft or “modern’ won’t cut it. They don’t want to feel like they’re wearing yoga pants; they want that tough and thick denim that’s been around for decades. As well as carrying Seven denim, we also have soft flannels, crisp button downs, sweaters, basic t-shirts and the occasional zip-up.

Last but not least in the denim department we have Joe’s jeans. Probably known as the most comfortable jean in the store, this company knows how to mimic that “favorite pair of jeans”feel like no one else. Joe Dahan, a designer who wanted to make modern versions of basic wardrobe pieces for men and women alike, founded the company in 2001 in LA.  As well as blue jeans, we also carry colored denim as well by Joe’s. Local shopper and stylish outdoorsmen, Zach Foley, came by Ecco a couple weeks ago to pick up a pair of black jeans for work and everyday wear. He looks great in them along with a soft flannel for a casual look.

Michael Stars and French Connection are two other brands we carry at Ecco. They provide us with great tops for men including dress shirts, casual tees and sweaters.

At ECCO we strive to provide quality, durable and timeless styles that every guy can feel good wearing. Good style is an investment! With all these incredible brands in our store any guy is bound to find something he loves! Come by Ecco on the corner of Church and Bank for whatever your closet is missing!

ECCO Staff Profile: Meet Marissa

ECCO Boutique Burlington VermontContinuing what we started last week, we’re looking forward to introducing you to each of the members of the ECCO team that help make the store as great as it is. Last time we introduced you to Melissa, and this week we’d like to tell you a little more about our Store Manager and Buyer extraordinaire, Marissa. A huge reason why we have so many  of the styles that you love – Marissa also gives us the inside scoop on her favorite Burlington destinations, hidden talents, and some of the perks involved with being a fashion buyer.

ECCO Boutique: So how long have you been working at ECCO, and what is it about this job that makes you love it?

Marissa: I’ve worked at ECCO for going on four and a half years now, and one of the best parts of the job is the variety. Obviously I love the clothes and the creativity that comes with being involved in deciding what fashions we will bring into the store each season – but one of the best parts is the variety. From creating ads, to selling, to creating unique displays, there’s always something to do. Something new and exciting going on each day.

EB: Can you tell a little about what goes into buying clothes for the store?

M: When we’re buying for upcoming seasons, we go into New York City and meet with our regular brand representatives and designers. We look at what they’re showing for the next season, and really try to see what would work best for our customers and clientele back home. Next we always try to go around and see what innovative options other people are working with and what styles will be on trend in upcoming seasons. We try to pick up a new brand or two and really get immersed in the culture.

EB: Besides being able to get first looks at all the new designs, are there other perks that come with being a buyer for a boutique?

M: Occasionally we’re wined and dined by some of the designers, which we definitely aren’t complaining about!

EB: After a long day, where are you headed to go and grab a drink?

M: Lately, I just can’t get enough of Juniper in Hotel Vermont. They have such great food and drinks, and I love the atmosphere there!

EB: How about for a Sunday Brunch, any favorite spots?

M: The Farmhouse has a really great brunch – and I always get the same thing. Eggs Benedict – can’t mess with a classic.

EB: What is your favorite brand in the shop, and an item that you just knew you had to have?

M: My favorite brand is probably J Brand jeans. I love their styles and they always fit just right. As for an item that I just had to have – there are literally too many items – basically I love them all, that’s a big reason of why we bring them in!

EB: And lastly, how about any hidden talents that we might not know about?

M: I’m a writer – I love to write poetry.
